Sara Gideon’s Former Staffers Running a Scare-and-Scam Campaign on Maine Seniors and Gideon is Silent

Washington Post catches dark money group run by former Gideon aides lying about Sen. Collins’ record

AUGUSTA – Maine GOP Chair Dr. Demi Kouzounas is calling on Maine House Speaker Sara Gideon to denounce the monstrous lies being told by her former aides through a dark money group that has plans to spend nearly a million dollars on television ads, ads which yesterday a non-partisan fact checker with the Washington Post declared false and intentionally misleading.

In the most recent episode in the campaign of dark money dishonesty being waged by Sara Gideon’s allies, the Washington Post gave an ad by the “Maine Momentum” dark money group three Pinocchio’s for being so dishonest.

Perhaps the worst part is that the lies being told are designed to intentionally frighten senior citizens and our most vulnerable.
“Sara Gideon needs to come out and denounce these false attack ads,” said Maine GOP Chair Dr. Demi Kouzounas.

“As the top elected official in the Maine House of Representatives, Speaker Gideon’s silence on these false claims proves only one thing – she is OK with Maine seniors being lied to as long as she benefits from it.”

“Sara Gideon can make whatever claims she wants about opposing dark money, but there is no evidence she means it. She has already been caught illegally funneling corporate contributions into federal elections, and now she is silent while her former aides and allies run a million-dollar scam trying to trick Maine’s elderly,” said Dr. Kouzounas.

“If Sara Gideon’s dark money supporters don’t think she can win without this scare-and-scam campaign of lies and Sara won’t speak out for the truth, she isn’t worthy of her current seat, let alone a place representing Maine in Washington D.C.”

Call to Action: Make Shady Sara Tell the Truth

As a Mainer, I add my voice to the many Mainers who are calling on Speaker Sara Gideon to release the mysterious “guidance” she is trying to blame for her multiple violations of federal campaign finance laws.

Speaker Gideon was caught illegally funneling corporate money into federal elections on four separate occasions, but she is blaming so-called “incorrect guidance” for her violations.

Sadly, Shady Sara Gideon refuses to release the so-called guidance she claims to have received. Shady Sara has made almost no public appearances since the story broke, denying the Maine people and press the ability to even ask her about the situation.

Sara Gideon needs to release this guidance, if it even exists. The people of Maine deserve better than this type of Shady behavior from Sara Gideon.

Maine GOP Chair Dr. Demi Kouzounas’ Statement on Sara Gideon’s Response to Violating Campaign Finance Laws

Maine’s Speaker of the House sells unbelievable lie to Maine Press claiming she knows nothing about campaign finance laws.

AUGUSTA – Maine GOP Chair Dr. Demi Kouzounas released the following statement on the Sara Gideon’s claim that she was unaware she was breaking campaign finance laws:

“It’s beyond ridiculous that the Speaker of the Maine House claims she was unaware of even the most basic campaign finance laws. Anyone who runs for office knows that reimbursing yourself for federal election contributions through your corporate-funded PAC is not only illegal, but highly unethical.

“While Sara claims ignorance, her own fundraising website clearly outlines federal campaign finance laws regarding corporate donations and ‘straw donors.’

“Whether it is hypocritically accepting corporate money, to blatantly violating campaign finance laws, or pleading ignorance when she gets caught, it’s clear: Sara Gideon is either lying to the people of Maine or she thinks she can play by her own rules.”

Maine GOP Chair Dr. Demi Kouzounas’ Statement Following the Second Night of the July Democratic Debates

AUGUSTA – Maine GOP Chair Dr. Demi Kouzounas released the following statement following the second night of the July Democratic debates:

“The last two nights of Democrat debates offer a bleak view of Maine’s future. It a future where taxes are high, homes are cold, and thousands, including union workers, have lost their private healthcare. President Trump’s future for Maine is one of prosperity and security. It is of lower prescription drug prices and better healthcare, a booming economy, and less regulations that hold back our farmers and fishermen. This is why President Trump will win in 2020, because since 2016 he never stopped winning.” – Maine GOP Chair Demi Kouzounas

Maine GOP Chair Dr. Demi Kouzounas’ Statement Following the First Night of the July Democratic Debates

AUGUSTA – Maine GOP Chair Dr. Demi Kouzounas released the following statement following the first night of the July Democratic debates:

“Tonight the 2020 Democrats once again embraced extreme and socialist policies like a complete overhaul of our healthcare system that eliminates private healthcare, open borders, and extreme climate plans that leave Mainers in the cold. Tomorrow, we will see more of the same – proposals that leave the majority of Americans, and Mainers, behind.” – Maine GOP Chair Demi Kouzounas

Sara Gideon Put Non-Citizens Ahead of Disabled Mainers

Speaker Sara Gideon voted for a bill to give welfare benefits to non-citizens, including those who have not even completed an asylum seeker application, but stranded more than 1,500 Maine citizens with severe disabilities on waiting lists and unable to get critical services.

Those Mainers may now have to be shipped out of state and away from their families to get the services they need, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Sara Gideon’s priorities are not Maine’s priorities.

Shady Sara Gideon literally banking in K Street “lobbyist haven” while her opponents bank in Maine

While her opponents bank in Maine, Gideon is stockpiling cash in the haven of lobbyists & political elites in Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON D.C. – Speaker Sara Gideon has run numerous ads that falsely imply she is an opponent of corporate contributions despite the fact that her state PAC literally fed on corporate contributions for years. Gideon has tried to claim she’s all about Maine and Maine people, but a look at Gideon’s campaign infrastructure shows she clearly is not. It’s just another piece of evidence that Shady Sara Gideon’s priorities are not what she claims they are.

Sara Gideon’s official campaign bank is Amalgamated Bank, 1825 K Street SW, Washington D.C.

Senator Susan Collins is banking with Bangor Savings Bank.

Betsy Sweet, who is running against Sara Gideon in the Democratic primary, is banking with Kennebec Savings Bank.

Additionally, Sara Gideon’s official “Custodian of Records” is just a few miles away from her K-Street bank in D.C.

Planned Parenthood banks with Amalgamated Bank. So do Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi.

“Sara Gideon is parking her money on K Street and counting on the Washington D.C. insiders to tell her how to spend it. While Sara Gideon is banking on K Street, her opponents are banking in Maine,” said Jason Savage, executive director of the Maine GOP.

“Sara Gideon’s ads might say one thing, but her actions tell the truth. Sara Gideon’s donors are literally sending their money to K Street in Washington D.C. While it’s probably easier for Chuck Schumer and his operatives to make deposits to Sara’s account in D.C., what does it say that she’s the only candidate in the field that doesn’t bank in Maine?” asked Savage.

Sign to Oppose Janet Mills’ non-citizen welfare action & betrayal of elderly Mainers

A few weeks ago, Janet Mills blocked a bill to help Maine’s nursing homes stay open and funded, but she just announced that she is taking “emergency” measures to provide welfare to non-citizens in Portland who came across the border illegally.

There is no way Janet Mills can deny her priorities now.

Janet Mills is “bailing out” Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling and providing state welfare dollars to hundreds (eventually thousands) of non-citizens while our nursing homes struggle to stay open and care for elderly Mainers across our state.

We have plans for Janet Mills in 2022, but right now, we need to work on getting the word out about her terrible positions and the destruction our nursing homes are facing while she pulls off the Portland bail out.

Our elderly and workers must come before non-citizens.

We need to find and support candidates who will hold Janet Mills accountable until we can get her voted out of office. We need to spread the word about Janet Mills’ terrible priorities.

We need to get the message out that Maine. People. Must. Come. First.

As Governor LePage just said about this, “I will feed my family before I feed strangers.”

Janet Mills is enabling lawlessness. She is bailing out Ethan Strimling. She is pushing elderly and disabled Mainers to the back of the line.

Janet Mills must be held accountable.

Stop Shady Sara

Since moving from New York to Maine, Sara Gideon has been on a mission to change the political landscape of our great state. As speaker of the Maine House, Sara has pushed extreme-socialist policies including taxpayer-funded abortion, tax-payer funded welfare for non-citizens, and a 40 cent per-gallon tax on gas and heating oil.

Her ultra-liberal ideology and track record of being a rubber-stamp Democrat has landed her on Chuck Schumer’s wish-list of 2020 candidates. Chuck Schumer and his DC elites will spare no expense to push Sara into the Senate.

Sara may have a New York state-of-mind, but her values clearly do not represent the hard-working people of Maine. Sign here to pledge your commitment to stop Shady Sara from taking her extremism to the US Senate.
