Dr. Demi Kouzounas of Saco was re-elected as Chair of the Maine Republican Party for her third term on January 16th, 2021.
In April of 2021, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel announced four new RNC Regional Co-Chairs who will play key roles in supporting Chairwoman McDaniel as she continues her successful leadership of the party. Chair Kouzounas was chosen to lead the Northeast Region (CT, DE, DC, ME, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI, VT, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands).
Chair Kouzounas, a graduate from Thornton Academy and the University of Maine at Orono, graduated in 1981 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She and her husband (Joseph G. Penna, DMD) then joined the U. S. Army, serving in the 86th Medical Detachment in Giessen, Germany from 1981-1984. They have practiced dentistry together for over 35 years and have two dental practices (Scarborough and Skowhegan).
Chair Kouzounas was one of the founders of Bright Smiles (a free children’s clinic in Portland) which provided dental services to children who would not normally receive dental care due to their families’ incomes or not having MaineCare coverage. She is also the co-founder of ‘Dentists Who Care for ME’ which gives an annual day of free care. Previously she served as the President of the Maine Dental Association and has been involved legislatively with access-to-care issues. She has also served on several nonprofit boards and continues to serve the Lunder-Dineen Board called MOTIVATE which is involved in Oral Health Education of residents in Nursing Homes.
Chair Kouzounas lives with her husband Joe in Saco, Maine, and has two grown married children, and two granddaughters.

Vice chair, maine gop
Shane Reitze was elected as Vice Chair of the Maine Republican Party on January 16th, 2021.
Vice Chair Reitze grew up in rural Maine and as a young man he worked on a dairy farm, for a logging company, and in construction. In his late teens, Shane served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the country of Portugal for 26 months, and subsequently he reads, writes, and speaks Portuguese. He returned from Portugal and started a career with Walmart becoming a store manager in under five years. Shane worked for Walmart for nearly 15 years before returning to his roots and construction. He now owns a construction company, Reitze Remodeling and Construction LLC and a water business, Everclean Water Treatment.
Vice Chair Reitze became involved with the Somerset County Republican Committee as the treasurer. He is currently serving as the County Chair and during the 2020 election cycle helped to turn every legislative seat in the county RED. He is the former Finance Chair of the Maine State Republican Committee.

Ben Lombard of Yarmouth was elected to his fourth full two-year term with unanimous support from the state committee in 2021.
Mr. Lombard is a practicing certified public accountant with a focus on income tax planning and preparation for individuals and closely-held businesses. He received a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and has served as volunteer Treasurer for a number of non-profit organizations

Barbara Campbell Harvey of Portland was re-elected as Secretary of the Maine Republican Party in 2021. In addition to her vast experience with Republican political organizations across Maine, Ms. Harvey also has served in a variety of positions for well-known organizations such as the Maine Education Loan Authority Board, LearningWorks, First Radio Parish Church of America, and Friends of the Blaine House. Ms. Harvey received her Master’s Degree in political science at Northeastern and lives in Portland, Maine.
