Maine Executive Director Statement on Democrats’ Government Shutdown

AUGUSTA—Today, Maine Republican Party Executive Director Jason Savage had this to say following Rep. Chellie Pingree and Sen. Angus King voting in lockstep with national Democrats yet again, this time to shut down the Federal government:

“Who would be surprised by this? Partisanship and undivided loyalty to Democrat overlords Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer instead of Maine people are the name and game for Angus King and Chellie Pingree. It’s what they do. They do not represent us, they work for Washington, D.C. and its power brokers.

It is sad King and Pingree did not have the guts to fall on their sword for a more worthy cause than illegal immigration–causes such as cutting wasteful spending, reforming healthcare to make it affordable again, or supporting tax relief for working Mainers and small businesses as Senator Collins and Congressman Poliquin did last year for our benefit this year and for years to come.

Voters will learn soon that King and Pingree only represent Washington, not Maine. Election Day cannot come soon enough.”
