Matt Harrington Selected as Republican Candidate for HD 19

The Maine Republican Party is excited to announce Matthew Harrington of Sanford will be running for Maine’s House District 19 seat after being nominated by the Sanford Republican Committee last week.

A fourth generation Mainer, Harrington currently works as a police officer in Kennebunk and has spent more than a decade in public safety as a police officer, firefighter and an EMT.

“The hardworking people of Maine deserve representatives at the state house who will fight for them and that is exactly what I intend to do,” Harrington said. “There’s a lot of work to do in Augusta and I’m up for the challenge. We need good government policy that promotes job growth and lowers the tax burden on all Maine families. We need to start working together to fight the massive influx of drugs pouring over our borders and poisoning our communities. I’m ready to tackle the tough issues facing our state.”

Harrington has already caught the attention of those already serving in Augusta like Sen. David Woodsome who serves the people of York County.

“Matt Harrington is an impressive and dedicated public servant. With experience as a firefighter, EMT, and a policeman he has demonstrated that he truly cares about our community and wants to do what is best for his friends and neighbors,” Sen. Woodsome said. “Matt has also made it abundantly clear that he is an advocate for efficient, reasonable government and a lower tax burden. Our region and all of Maine would benefit from having him in Augusta.”
