Presidential RCV Action Alert

Tomorrow, March 20th, there will be an attempt to turn Maine’s Presidential elections over to the ranked-choice voting process in the 2020 election.

The bill is L.D. 1083 “An Act To Implement Ranked-choice Voting for Presidential Primary and General Elections in Maine ” and you can read it here: http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/bills/getPDF.asp?paper=SP0315&item=1&snum=129

The bill, sponsored by Sen. President Troy Jackson, would make Maine’s Presidential election subject to ranked-choice voting.

We are asking you, right now, to email the committee clerk of the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee at [email protected] and express your desire to leave Maine’s Presidential elections the way they are, and not expand ranked-choice voting.

Time and again, Democrats in Augusta are trying to change the rules of elections – even though our elections have worked just fine for decades.

So please, email the committee clerk for the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee at [email protected] and ask her to share your email with the committee, and urge them to leave our Presidential elections alone.

There are a host of reasons this is a bad idea. From the cost, to unnecessary delays, to legal problems, we just need to say no please oppose this bill and move forward using the traditional method we have always used in Presidential elections.

Thank you for your time, and please don’t wait, send that email now.

P.S. – If you want to email the members of the VLA Committee directly, you can use this handy form from Maine People Before Politics. Just make sure to select Veterans and Legal Affairs in the drop down menu on the form. https://www.mainepeoplebeforepolitics.com/contactcenter/
