Demand Gov Mills Fix Maine’s Unemployment System

Governor Janet Mills’ stay at home order has forced tens of thousands of Mainers out of work and left them reliant upon Maine’s unemployment system to survive.

But, due to bureaucratic bungling and a severe lack of leadership, many of those Mainers are stuck in a never-ending cycle of dropped phone calls and promises that the Department of Labor is “working on getting the system fixed.”

We the undersigned call on Gov. Janet Mills to take all measures necessary to fix Maine’s unemployment system, including the termination of leadership that has failed the people of Maine, reassigning staff of other departments to shoulder the caseload and even expansion of call-center hours to a 24 hour system and assigning a team to hand write checks that have been delayed, until the crisis abates.

The suffering of the people of Maine must come to an end – FIX THIS NOW.
