Mills to join crowded US Senate Primary to Schumer’s delight
AUGUSTA – In anticipation of Janet Mills’ announcement that she will join the crowded Democrat primary field, Maine GOP Chairman Jim Deyermond released the following statement:
“Congratulations to Chuck Schumer, who has landed yet another of his hand-picked candidates for US Senate,” said Chairman Deyermond.
“During Janet Mills’ time as Governor, Maine’s cost-of-living has risen out-of-control; crime and drugs on our streets are rampant; Mississippi has passed us in educational outcomes; we just had the highest electricity price increase in the nation; Chinese organized crime has put down roots across Maine; taxes have increased and state government spending has exploded due to Mills’ special interest handouts and illegal immigrant welfare programs.”
“Janet Mills is certainly going to use her attacks on President Trump as an example of ‘courage’, but now we see she was just acting as a loyal partisan when siding with the transgender lobby and fighting Trump in court at the expense of Maine students and families,” continued Deyermond.
“So, once again, congratulations to Chuck Schumer on getting one of America’s most liberal, unpopular Governors to join a race where moderates have had historic success.”
