PRESS RELEASE: Pingree’s Report Includes 66 Out-of-State Max Out Donors and Many Wealthy Lobbyists

Latest Fundraising Report Shows Pingree Bankrolled by Out-of-State and Wealthy Donors While Mainers Fuel Charles Campaign

JULY 28, 2026

AUGUSTA, ME — The most recent fundraising report in the Maine Governor’s race, the 42-day Post Primary Report, shows a glaring difference between the two major party nominees.

Out-of-state donations and in-state lobbyists largely fund Democratic nominee Hannah Pingree. Her most recent report shows that 66 people who don’t live in Maine are making maximum contributions.

Having been rejected by more than three-fourths of her party’s voters on primary election day, Pingree is reaching outside of Maine for big money donors.

Additionally, liberal independent candidate Rick Bennett is also benefiting from donations from wealthy lobbyists, with at least eight of them contributing to his campaign in the latest report.

When comparing the reports of Pingree and Republican nominee Bobby Charles, it is clear Charles is powered by blue-collar Maine residents who are desperate to see their state become safer and more prosperous.

“Bobby Charles is running a campaign that is funded by hard-working Mainers, not wealthy donors from outside our state nor well-connected special interest lobbyists in Augusta like Hannah Pingree,” said Maine GOP Communications Director Kristina Parker. “Mainers face a stark choice for Governor: We can choose reform, competency and leadership in Bobby Charles, or nepotism, failure and more of the same from Hannah Pingree.”
