PRESS RELEASE: LePage protects Maine hospitals and access to healthcare

AUGUSTA – In response to the laughable attempt by liberal Matt Dunlap and his dark money allies to pin Maine’s current health care crisis on Paul LePage, Maine Republican Party senior advisor Jason Savage issued the following statement.

“Nobody fought harder to keep Maine’s health care systems strong and funded than Paul LePage,” said Savage. “Paul LePage paid off the massive hospital debt left by the previous reckless administration and worked tirelessly to put the system on solid financial footing. Now, after eight years of Democrats again managing Maine’s health care policies, our providers are facing a crisis.”

“Democrats complaining about the current state of Maine’s health care after single-party control needn’t point fingers at Paul LePage, who left the system stabilized – all they have to do is look in the nearest mirror,” Savage said, placing the blame squarely where it belongs. “Eight years of expansion of eligibility with no real plan to pay for it. Eight years of increasing restrictions and costs and an economic environment that scares off young medical professionals. Eight years of slow or non-existent payments, even at reduced reimbursement rates. This is the Democrats’ legacy on Maine’s health care system.”
