Senator James Hamper is currently serving his fourth term in the Maine State Senate. He serves the people of Senate District 19 which is made up of Bridgton, Harrison, Naples, Sebago, Brownfield, Denmark, Fryeburg, Hiram, Norway, Otisfield, Oxford, Paris and Porter. Prior to being elected to the Senate, he served four terms in the Maine House of Representatives.
Senator Hamper currently serves as a member of Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee. Previously, he chaired the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and the Health and Human Services Committee and served as a member of the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee.
A graduate of the University of Maine at Augusta, Senator Hamper is a carpenter with Bartow Construction. He has served his community as a member of the Oxford Budget Committee and the Oxford Planning Board, and is an active member of the Rock-O-Dundee Snowmobile Club.
Senator Hamper lives in Oxford with his wife Lynn. They are members of the Oxford Advent Christian Church and have two children and two grandchildren.
