PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: May 8, 2018
AUGUSTA – Today, Maine Republican Party Executive Director Jason Savage issued the following statement after the resignation of Maine Gubernatorial candidate Janet Mills fundraiser, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
“Yesterday, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman resigned following shocking reports that
he allegedly physically abused four women. But as recently as 2017,
Schneiderman was raising an undisclosed amount of campaign cash for
Democrat gubernatorial candidate Janet Mills.
The New York Daily News reported at
the time that, “The New York attorney general, who has received
national attention for his numerous lawsuits against the Trump
administration, has also headlined several other New York City events
for Democrats across the country. Among them, Maine Attorney General
Janet Mills, who is running for governor, Virginia Attorney General Mark
Herring, who won reelection, and the Democratic delegation of the
Virginia House of Delegates.”
Schneiderman’s
conduct is beyond reprehensible, and any politician associated with
Schneiderman has a responsibility to speak out against him.
Janet Mills has financially benefited from Eric Schneiderman. Will she return the campaign cash he raised for her?”
