BREAKING: BALLOTS IN WRONG MAINE CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
Maine GOP releases sworn affidavits from 17 voters in four towns in southern Maine saying that Poliquin/Golden race was on their ballot

AUGUSTA – The Maine GOP is releasing to the public a set of sworn affidavits signed by voters in Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, East Boothbay and Trevett today.

These affidavits are all signed by voters who say that their ballots showed candidates from Maine’s Second Congressional District instead of the First Congressional District where they reside.

“Clearly, there is a problem we need to get to the bottom of here,” said Jason Savage, executive director of the Maine GOP. “This is the latest in a long line of irregularities in Maine’s elections, and one that these voters deserve answers for.”

“When the wrong candidates are showing up ballots far outside their district, apparently in significant numbers, we need an investigation,” said Savage.

Some concerns include:

– If these ballots were handed out in the wrong Congressional district, how many more were also handed out in error in other parts of the state?

– Did similar problems occur in Maine’s Second District?

– Were these ballots counted for the wrong candidates?

“We are seeking an investigation into these ballots immediately, and at the same time pursuing more than a dozen additional credible leads of ballots in CD1 that named CD2 candidates. Not all of these are confined to these four towns.”

“Simple explanations or claims this did not occur do not seem to be enough. More voters keep coming forward to state this occurred. There is tremendous concern about how these votes were counted.”

“This issue has been simmering since the election, and now with this many voters signing sworn affidavits, the Secretary of State and local municipal elections should stop ignoring them and launch an investigation immediately.”

Some of the complaints can be found on the official Boothbay government page, or the page of a local reporter. Many others have been placed via phone call or email to Maine Republican Party officials.

Below is an example of two of the people who have not signed affidavits who made comments.
