Rep. Tuell is serving his third term in the Maine House of Representatives serving the people of House District 139 which includes Cutler, East Machias, Eastport, Lubec, Machias, Machiasport, Roque Bluffs and Whiting, plus the unorganized territory of Trescott Township.
Educational and Professional Background: Will graduated from Washington Academy (’96) sixth in his class, before attending college at the University of Maine at Machias, where he graduated with honors in 2001. He served as publicist for the non-profit Sunrise County Economic Council from 1999-2014 and wrote for a local weekly, The Downeast Coastal Press, from 2007 to 2014. In 2017 Will was named UMM’s Young Alumnus award winner. He is a member of the 127th, 128th and 129thLegislatures.
Will has served as a selectman for the Town of East Machias since 2009, and is currently beginning his fourth three year term. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Sunrise County Economic Council, a local nonprofit that works with businesses, communities, and individuals to improve Washington County’s economy; In 2018, Will joined the Arise Addiction Recovery Board of Directors. Arise holds weekly meetings across Washington County, and residential rehab for those looking to get to the root causes of addiction in their lives. In December 2018, Will was named House co-chair for the Legislature’s Caucus on Aging.
Will is the oldest son of Wayne and Jennifer Tuell of East Machias. He has a brother, Joe, of Marshfield, ME and a sister, Dorrie, of Vero Beach, Florida. Will also has a niece, Hailey Tuell, of Marshfield, and Jacob Mulligan of Vero Beach, Florida.
