Rep. Matt Harrington enters his third term in the Maine House of Representatives representing the people of House District 19 which includes Sanford and Springvale. He is serving on the Joint Standing Committee on Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement, and Business.
In addition to serving in the Maine Legislature, Rep. Harrington currently works as a Kennebunk Police Officer.
“I firmly believe hardworking Mainers deserve dedicated representation in Augusta to cut taxes, to lessen onerous regulations, and to encourage policy that lets people themselves, not government, decide what is best for their families,” said Rep. Harrington. “I ran for office to strengthen public safety in Maine. I have worked in public safety for over a decade, as a firefighter, police officer and advanced emergency medical technician. Our firefighters, police officers and emergency medical personnel are our first line of defense. We have a responsibility to provide adequate resources, equipment and training so they can safely and adequately perform their duties.”
He graduated from Southern Maine Community College in 2007 with an Associates Degree in Fire Science and also earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminology from the University of Southern Maine in 2010.
