State Representative Dennis L. Keschl (R-Belgrade) has been appointed to the 129th Maine Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs. The Committee is among the most sought after legislative assignments, because it is charged with reviewing the new Governor’s two-year budget and recommending changes to the full Legislature.
“Maine begins 2019 in great financial shape,” said Keschl. “A record-high number of employers, private-sector jobs, State revenues, and record-low unemployment are all driving our economy and have created a budget surplus. We must ensure that unrestrained spending doesn’t lead to a slowdown, or reverse the financial gains made by Maine individuals and families. A strong economy helps everyone, and can help us attract and retain the young workers we need going forward.”
Keschl, a town manager, was recently elected to represent District 76: Belgrade, Fayette, Mount Vernon, Rome, Vienna and Wayne. He previously served two terms in the Legislature (125-126th) on the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee.
